We Want Everything to Be OK

“If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: We all want everything to be okay. We don’t even wish so much for fantastic or marvelous or outstanding. We will happily settle for okay, because most of the time, okay is enough.”

So when I am in a forest of clouds and the rays of the sun are only peeking through in little sparkles, I try to remind myself to <try> to figure out what might be happening. There are all sorts of interacting & intersecting variables and triggers that impact our feeling of well-being. I can only speak from my own world, but typically there's obvious stuff and non-obvious stuff.  There's lack of sleep. The stress of _________. Life in general. Pain. Maybe your list includes thunderstorms or eating donuts. Maybe you can use your journal to step back with a bit of objectivity, like maybe you can be a reporter and try to find out when you last felt OK? Sometimes I work just with color, other times with words and colors and images, I don't always work in literal fashion, making a list of problems, but I might use color to try to focus my mind. Anyhow, it's not always easy to see what's going on.  And if there's an inkling in your mind that you need help figuring things out or balancing out the brain chemicals, please take a step to help yourself. Make an appointment with your doctor. Or a therapist that a friend recommends. Maybe you can bring in your journal to share what you are thinking? Moods and energy wax and wane, it's true, but please pay attention:)
