What do you see? Starbursts? Economics textbooks? Pinwheels? Not sure if I like the whirling pie charts on the white background - like they are floating - or jacketed | enveloped | surrounded - like they are planted firmly on the ground?  Or maybe they are they bouncing around the universe? I'll leave the interpretation up to you.

The process? First I drew sectioned circles freehand with pencil on watercolor paper. Then I added color with Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay inks {quick review here} and a small brush. I let some of the sections bleed into each other and kept some sections more crisp. Variety is the spice of life, and apparently of pie charts. After the inked portions dried, I opted for Golden high flow acrylic paint {fluid acrylics would have worked just as well} to make the surrounding blackness. First, I used a larger brush to get the large imprecise patches of paint down. Then a smaller brush to add details and reach around those curved edges.
