Journal Flip: The Turquoise Journal
Not sure how many altered books I’ve done now, but at least eight (8)!!!! Last year I filmed a bunch of journal flips and I realize I haven’t shared this one!!! There are links to other flip-thru videos at the bottom of the post. This is the Turquoise Journal. I can never figure out a name so I use the color of the original cover or some play on the cover image or title. Otherwise I forget what I named them!
Here’s a flip-through of an altered hardback book that I turned into an art journal. This is a pretty big one, with 41 spreads. Do you see finished journals as projects? Or a container for individual pages? I like to visualize it as a project rather than separate page? So there’s a certain synergy to a finished journal - it’s more than the sum of its parts.
In this journal project I’ve used Golden heavy body acrylics, Caran D'Ache Neocolors, found papers, ink, washi tape, and thread. I have developed some resources to help you in your art journaling practice: Art Journaling 101 [getting started] and Art Journaling 102 [my favorite papers, paints, pens, etc.] or take a mixed media art journaling workshop with me!
