Art Journal Flip: The Pink Cupcake Journal
I do my mixed media art journal work in hardback books. Each book that I select to alter has something that pulls me in... that's my starting point. It might be the vibe or mood or shape of the book, the feel of the paper, the images, the fonts or all of the above. As I work, gradually the book is transformed into something altogether different. I try to see the book as a whole rather than a set of discrete items.
A project with components | compartments | subsets | layers | ideas | colors | images | words | thoughts | ideas | textures | concepts | experiments | tests | ad infinitim.

Some super detail shots
You can see that I love the grunge, love the texture, love the imperfections...
The Pink Cupcake Journal was originally a cookbook focusing on treats & cupcakes; in some of my journals I incorporate the original page but in this journal, not much is visible.
Creating flip-thru videos of my journals is a great way to document my work and to convey the scope of an altered book project. I hope this gives you a frame of reference for all of the individual pages you see at the blog!
