ICAD 2019 Prompts Week 2
It’s the Index-Card-a-Day Challenge!
Go to the ICAD home base for all of the details!
A few points to ponder as you wrap up the first week and move into the second week of the challenge.
1) YAY you!!! You guys are just absolutely amazing! I can’t keep up with all of the goodness being shared. Thank you for the sweet notes letting me know that this is really making a difference for you. Thank you for encouraging each other and answering questions and directing traffic and helping others learn the ropes. Thank you for not making this a competition.
2) Be sure to set up some kind of system so that you increase the odds of sticking with this daily challenge. Maybe that’s a note-to-self on your fridge? Or a back-up plan for a day where you don’t feel up to making a card? How about painting an extra background so that on a LOW MOJO day you can just doodle or write a quotation or do a one-staple collage.
3) Better to do a simple card than drop out.
4) I bet you’ll generate more ideas if you take a few minutes each day to notice what is happening. Feel the fringe on your scarf, breathe in the scent of jasmine tea, taste a ripe raspberry, listen to the click of the camera lens. I also like to try and do something I ordinarily do but in a novel way. Like take a different route or use different spices or something like that.
Daily Prompts: Week Two
Take a prompt out for a spin, turn it upside down, look it up in the thesaurus, Use them figuratively, geometrically, humorously, decadently, literally, poetically, etc. or skip them completely! They are here for you if you need them.
Thematic Prompts: Weeks 1, 2, 3
Concepts and mediums that you might want to use to guide your work. The themes are not scientifically designed to work seamlessly with the daily prompts, that's part of the fun! Use the themes, use the prompts, use both... whatever works for you. Tried and true things that many artists love. Hoping that they lead you to explore some new-to-you ideas too!
