Art Journal: Mirrors

“The ear tends to be lazy, craves the familiar and is shocked by the unexpected; the eye, on the other hand, tends to be impatient, craves the novel and is bored by repetition.”
W. H. Auden

Art journal page by Tammy Garcia.

Pages inspired by Mirrors by Justin Timberlake. These are in a new book I'm altering, because I'm almost finished with the Red Book and the Orange Book so this is the Turquoise Book. This book alteration obsession is getting out of hand, I just keep going and going without end!

So the Turquoise Book is a book with thin glossy paper, with inspirational quotes {which aren't all that inspirational}. I thought that this paper would be strong enough but some pages are warping. I'm definitely selecting a book with non-glossy pages for the next altered book art journal! I'm whipping through the books surprisingly fast, not keeping up with posting the pages. Maybe I need to do a post where I have 17 zillion pages.

This page has shiny polka dot wrapping paper and images of metallic objects theoretically represent mirrors; the map symbolizes the act of looking for something, someone, a journey.

I feel like this one is a bit too literal, so I don't like it as much as I do the other rock-pages.  The other music pages {see: Eagles, Pink Floyd, Springsteen, Yes} were about songs that I have known for what seems like my entire life. Maybe because this song does not evoke as much emotion for me.
