Cascades, zig zags + circus tents.
"Laughter gives us distance. It allows us to step back
from an event, deal with it and then move on."
How good and uplifting it feels to have an underlying|ongoing|base project for the year! It's SO NEEDED... a breath of fresh air in a world that can feel toxic. Yay for art! Couldn't we all find good vibes in creative work? Find yourself something like that - something to dream and scheme about. Something you are passionate about. It does not have to be a 365, because not every project lends itself to that format. Maybe it's something you put on your tracker, so that you don't forget. So that you get a sweet ✅ when you work on it?
Let me tell you a little secret. It's FAB to have a thing that you do when you don't know what you want to do - a default - a project without expectations other than moving forward.
I thought it would be helpful to give you a frame of reference about size. These squares are just 3x3" and I'm still sticking with ink!!! I'd expected to switch mediums but not yet! I’m also digging square format. With journal pages and ICADs it’s all rectangles, right?
With SQUARE any direction is UP and thus ✔️🔄🔝composition is fluid.
This card felt like a huge breakthrough - stitched, construction, destruction, drawing landscapes with thread... and letting the thread interfere with the ink path, all neat-o.
Playing with stitch settings like a little kid.
3x3" ink + thread on watercolor paper, somethings 37-40
3x3" ink + thread on watercolor paper, somethings 41-44
Number 44 is kind of spooky.
3x3" ink + thread on watercolor paper, somethings 45-48
Dr. Seuss goes to the circus? Stitched the insets and then drew lines and inked the centers.
Well that's all for today, folks! Lots of colorful squares ahead!
