14 neocolor II crayons to get started

“If people sat outside and
looked at the stars each night,
I'll bet they'd live a lot differently.”
Bill Watterson

A short list of Caran d'Ache Neocolor II Artists' Crayons to get started. Neocolor IIs are water soluble and luscious! Lyra aquarelles are quite good as well. Use them to highlight art journal pages, edge images, paint them with water for a watercolor look, draw on a wet page for intense color. If you prefer the non-water soluble type, get Neocolor I wax crayons. The colors are exactly the same.

Notes on particular colors.

For lemony yellow, choose #470 - spring green or #010 - yellow.

For bright red, choose #290 - ruby red or #070 - scarlet. Ruby red is a touch darker.

Optional: #407 - Sepia, #131 - Periwinkle Blue, #160 - cobalt blue , #139 - indigo blue, #730 - chinese green.
