Cut + Paste Therapy

The first step in the process was to pick a journal for the occasion! I wanted something wide and reasonably sturdy that would be fun to fill with imagery. I don't know about you but I really NEED to like the paper in my journals. I found a 8 1/4 x 11 3/4" Clairefontaine Carnet de Voyage {Travel Album} and got to work. The paper in this wirebound journal is 180g/83 lb so lovely for simple cut + paste collage.

Digital Art Journaling: Overpass

This all began with an attempt to clean off the back porch of cobwebs and errant leaves; I found myself staring down at an unorganized garden hose with fascination. Remembering a photo I had taken perhaps a decade ago, of this hose. Or maybe it was another one, elsewhere. I get distracted by patterns and find myself seeing possibilities. In that quagmire I see a highway, graffiti tags, japanese characters, abstract marks, a hopelessly knotted skein of yarn, a map, perhaps an elaborate knot.

Journal Flip: The Orange Journal

I've tasked myself with filming flip-thru videos for all of the books/journals finished this past year.  Most of this journal was finished in 2015-2016 with maybe 1-2 pages this year. The Orange Journal is the 2nd flip thru on the list [the first is the Red Journal]. I wrote about my process for naming stuff in The Elusive Naming Process; my altered books are typically named after the cover color of the original book or maybe the purpose of the journal.
