Toto | Tornado {+ Announcement}

11x14" canvas, acrylic, neocolors

Some work in progress shots of a canvas in Golden fluid acrylics and neocolors. After playing with Golden heavy body acrylics in Nudge: Gray, I was still into the idea of working in grays. I'm letting this one sit for awhile until I decide what happens next... it doesn't seem finished.

After I painted much of it black, my daughter (8) asked if she could draw something on the page with neocolors. That's what is great about art journaling, you can really do anything to your page! She drew waves in blues and purples at the bottom of the canvas, going over in various shades. I thought it looked like waves on the night ocean, so I flipped the frame and went from there. Have you ever used Golden interference fluid acrylics? This was my first experiment with interference blue - it's almost clear on white and purplish blue on black. VERY COOL. It kind of looks like moonlight on the ocean.

That or a tornado is about to hit Dorothy + Toto.
