The Serendipity of the Moment

small parts of larger canvases

On "Design Star" one of the judges uses the phrase "moment" to describe an area within a room that is particularly special. I googled this phrase and cannot find anything definitive. But it got me thinking. What about perusing our pages, our doodles, our art journal pages, our mixed media artwork for "moments" that we love? Even if you don't like an entire piece, there are likely bits that you adore, that you keep looking at, that you'd love to recreate. So today, take out a bunch of your art and look for happy accidents, little areas that you like, intriguing or surprising color combinations, several patterns that come together in a pleasing way, the juxtaposition of two different textures, random words with colors. The moment could be something that you created intentionally, or something that sort of happened.

This is a great idea, Tammy, and a good way to appreciate a piece that we might not be pleased with overall. Heck, we might benefit from identifying "moments" on our own bodies (since so many of us tend to fixate on the parts we're not so thrilled with)! :-)
