The Kimball

Two shots of the Vortex sculpture outside the Fort Worth Modern Art Museum, adjacent to The Kimball. The kids love to go inside and stomp and clap + dance + hear + feel the echoes + vibrations. It's magical.

Yesterday, a field trip to the Kimball to see an exhibition of Mayan art with three 5th graders. Desafortunadamente (one of my favorite spanish words), we weren't allowed to take photos of the art. My daughter took a photo of the ceiling (her favorite subject at museums, we have dozens of pix of the ceiling at The Neue Pinakothek in Munich) and the nasty guard scolded her. The art above is in the permanent collection. On the long drive to the museum, the girls and I invented a story, each continuing for a few sentences and passing it off to the next. All in all a lovely day.

Here are some shots from our summer visit to the Dallas Museum of Art.

sounds like a great day! I work in a museum, so I can understand where the guard is coming from. Just think, that may have made his day. lol I usually buy postcards at museums - yes, it is a sales technique, but it's actually art preservation! {:-D
