Sound Links
Mon, August 18, 2008 at 02:19PM Sound links I found interesting while developing ideas for using a digital voice recorder:
- Favorite sounds from the kitchen including the sound of a wine cork popping
- Search the web for sounds at Find Sounds
- Pandora creates a "radio station" with music you like, and similar music based on the Music Genome Project
- Favorite sounds at Listography including the sound of popcorn popping
- At Favorite Chicago Sounds people are asked to submit their favorite sounds, and the group seeks out those sounds, records them, and posts to the site; it all started with Favourite London Sounds which has sound links for New York, Berlin and more
- Notes on the sounds of everyday life at Sound Journal, including...
- "Rembrences of Soundscapes Past" which describes the sounds of life in the 1940's, including lovely descriptions of the sound of a sewing machine, a water pump, and more
Young children laughing. Ocean waves. Fall leaves crunching. Skis swooshing. Thunderstorms. The little bell as the elevator reaches a floor. Jingling charm bracelets. Manual typewriters. What are your favorites? What sounds did you notice this week?
