Soleil Mandala
Tue, July 21, 2009 at 06:00PM Soleil was drawn in Salzburg, Austria... one of my favorites from our journey... it just makes me smile! I've started using hatching and cross hatching in my mandalas and really working on layering. Mandalas let me relax, but they also make me think!
When I read about mandalas, I always find lots of juicy spiritual descriptions, but for me they are just funky shapes to draw - call them mandalas, art, doodles, drawings, works in pen and marker. Some say that if a mandala is not symmetrical, it is not a mandala, it's a doodle. Who cares?
At each stage of a mandala, I stop and look at it, and wonder what to do next. That's whay I like to do art over a few days (or weeks).... each time you look at your art, you have a different perspective, mood, frame of reference and you once again start fresh.

This mandala is gorgeous Tammy, I especially like the multi-layering effects and ribbon style decorations all around. It would be great if you could offer a few tips on how to do these layering techniques. You certainly have a very special talent for making these beautiful designs. I am sooooo enjoying going slowly through your archive posts. Thank you for the inspiration that your designs give out through you sharing them.
