Sew-a-Go-Go (Part 5): Fabric
Fri, August 27, 2010 at 08:00AM "If you are a student you should always get a good nights sleep unless you have come to the good part of your book, and then you should stay up all night and let your schoolwork fall by the wayside, a phrase which means 'flunk'."
— Lemony Snicket
How do you do it, narrow the choices?

Amy Butler - Love
Is this where fabric collections innocently begin?

Kaleidoscope
Is it really innocent?
These colors are beautiful.

Doodly stripes.

I'd like to have a tiny (just right) collection.

I've read on many sewing blogs that a great and cheap way to build a fabric collection is by buying sheets and such in second-hand stores such as Goodwill. Some people have found amazing fabrics that way.

I must admit, the Kaleidoscope fabric sent me over the moon! Wouldn't it be fabulous stretched over a frame and hung on a wall?1? Hugs, Terri xoxo
Sophie, Thx for the excellent idea!
Terri, Kaleidoscope was my favorite as well - a unique design that I could envision as a girls' dress - pencil/pen bag - camera strap... but what a cool idea, to take fabric and use that as art!
Has anyone tried either of these ideas?

The second one from the top is really cool!
Tiffani, Sorry the link is so tiny underneath, it's Amy Butler fabric. Yummy!

IMHO.... I don't think there is such thing as a TINY JUST RIGHT collection of Fabric! HaHa It is unbelievably addictive and so therapeutic to see the fabric choices made while shopping amongst previous purchases. It's also so cool to make something and have the right fabric already in your stash!
Fabric Stash 2 beautiful words in the English language. Tiny would never do for me.
It is the feel of the fabric that draws me in every time. Kaffee Fasset fabric draws me in as do Batiks.
Yes, I have stretched fabric on a wooden stretchers frame. Works out well adn easy to match and change up decor.
Paint/ stamp on fabric and then stretch it.
PFD fabric to do that. Prepared for Dye ( PFD) or markers/ crayons/ neocolors - yes you can use them on fabric. All applied color to fabric including dye needs to be heat set.
