Saturated Grid Mandala

A month ago, on one of the last decent pool days, the kids played in the chilly water as I drew the background for this mandala. I drew in some of the squares with pencil, but I was not thrilled with it. I've been working in this 8x8" Clairefontaine watercolor journal. I freehand painted a mandala on the grid. Wacky? But I really, really like it!

As an Art Director, I don't feel inspired by this system at all. I applaud the effort, and it's admirable to spend so much time pro- bono. I like the banners, they look great. But as everyone else has mentioned it's far too trendy. Please don't pimp this logo out with ...

How did I not know this is National Journal Month, also? Wow. So many national months all scrunched together. I would love it if the journal month was in February or something. LOL.

Anyway - love the mandala. The colors are so vivid and it evokes a propeller in me - as if your journal was ready for take off!

I found you from Art Every Day.. .perhaps on Twitter?! Can't recall - and I am grateful to have found you!

PS - I love Jackson Browne. In high school my year book goal was to be rich, famous and married to Jackson Browne. So far I am 0 for 3~ and there is time, right?! LOL

Watercolor just has this soothing feel to it visually...this is really gorgeous!
Peace & Love,

Love the colors and the way you got the swirls inside of the watercolor parts as well! I think that grid paper looks rather cool! Guess you better ask Santa for some more watercolor papers, huh?
