the optimist expects it to change;

Are you an artist if you simply create artsy stuff? Are you a writer if you don't sell your work? Are you a poet if your work resides in your top drawer? I believe that have the right to define yourself as you wish. A writer, an artist, a poet, a chef. You are the only one who has a say in this, so give it some thought.

These are really timely questions ... I've been pondering them myself most of this year. Thank you for sharing the quotes - they help. :)
I believe that if you find it is so in your heart, then you are whatever you believe. Hugs, Terri xoxo
For so long I've always crferred to myself as "crafty" or "creative" but about a year ago I decided that I AM an artist...I create art and isn't that what an artist does? I love that you're spreading the word and giving reinforcement to those of us that may not make a living with our art but we are still artists, none the less. Thank you.

I love the quotes in this post.
a friend of mine sent me her artwork this week - the theme was: woman-an artist. the work is fabulous but it says on the front: "I create therefore I am...an artist?" this question mark at the end really irritated me. we should have more courage and faith in our talents. easier said than done, don't you think? but you're right-it's us who have the say.
thank you.
