Pandora's {Open} Box

"Creativity is a central source of meaning in our lives . . .
most of the things that are interesting, important, and human
are the results of creativity . . . when we are involved in it,
we feel that we are living more fully than during the rest of life."
- Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

"pandora's {open} box" 5x8" watercolor moleskine journal, pitt pen

Pandora's {Open} Box is is a chaotic doodle from my moleskine journal thanks to sleepless nights spent drawing instead of coughing. And yes, thank you for your kind words, thanks to modern meds I am breathing much better these days. I did sooooooo many doodles during a series of sleepless nights; I'll share them over the next few weeks.

When you are ill, sad, grieving, waiting, in a yukky mood, art can help. If you can squeeze a teeny weeny bit of energy, you can do something creative. It might improve your mood. Kind of like putting on a touch of makeup, brushing your hair, putting on jeans instead of sweats and meeting a friend. It works for me! Find something not very taxing that you can do while resting or sitting quietly. If you are super low energy you can divide it into small parts. Set up for the creative bit one day, and do it the next. It's one of 7 Reasons to Do Art in the Margins.

More middle-of-the-night doodles: More: Wonderland| Tunnel 6 | Licorice.
