for those who know how
to look and to wait,
more instruction than a library."

So the idea behind these prompts is that It is Your Art, your page, your space, your place to play, so grab paper, paints + markers, put on some music and enjoy some play-time! While you are working, take a photograph of your work-in-progress and post to Art Journal Pages Unfinished (a Flickr group for work-in-progress) or take a detail shot of part of your page and post to Art Journal Details & Macros.
<Tweet-Story> Write a short story in 140 characters or less. Create a page to illustrate the story with color & images. Include the story on the page.
<Words as Art> Click over to 20 Beautiful Examples of Creative Text Used in Advertising at webdesigndev and peruse the list for ideas. Develop a page using artistic text in an interesting way.
<Torn Abstraction> Paint randomly with acrylic or watercolor on a loose piece of heavy cardstock. Let it dry. Cut into squares or tall narrow rectangles and use the pieces as a component of your page. Fold, weave, collage, grid, play.
<Preppy Plaid> Using a brayer or brush, create a plaid background with tips at Plaid Backgrounds with Acrylics and put an image or word in each "box' of the grid of the plaid pattern.
<Analytical Angle> For your background, glue a page of yellow legal paper, accounting ledger paper, an old bank statement, the stock market closing prices, a telephone book - something related to numbers or finances. Add a thin layer of gesso if needed to mute the background. In words, analyze something having to do with numbers or your financial world. Ideas include financial challenges, your age, getting organized, a budget.
<Trends R Us> Create an art journal page using one of the four themes from the Summer 2010 Color Trends at Fashion Trendsetter.

Hi,
I am brand new to art journaling. I guess I realized I have been doing it some form since I was a child. I appreciated your comment "3 years ago art was not in my life, now it is critical to happiness". I am totally there.
I am so excited to learn and love your blog and site.
Best...S
