first cup of coffee

Coffee is not for me
It's a drink some people wake up with
That it makes them nervous is no myth
Coffee is not for me

In music class in the 3rd grade, the teacher taught the class a song about coffee, no doubt to dissuade us from drinking the evil liquid.

On the coffee stained background, a little memory of my first cup of coffee. I was working on an accounting internship away from college senior year. There was nothing to eat or drink at the oil refinery except over-boiled old burnt coffee, which I poured into a tiny styrofoam cup and added fake powdered creamer.

I used correction tape, papermate ball-point pen and cuttings from art journal pages (see chopped and chopped ii). Like Confetti is another page with correction tape but brighter and more vivid.

Ohhhh, the memories you've brought with your story about coffee! Unfortunately, I, too, remember that ugly burnt coffee and the faux powdered creamer!!! Yuck!!!! Your page is beyond awesome!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo

I've got a few of those 3rd grades tunes in my head as well!! Funny to sing them now! You poor thing no wonder you don't like coffee if you had that crappy stuff sittin around all day with the un-delectable powdered creamers, Ugh!! And in a styrofoam cup too!

Terri, I think it was the faux creamer that was the worst part!

Eden, Ah but I adore coffee! It's a wonder I ever made it to good coffee after that first impression. I love coffee, good quality coffee, and lattes are my favorite. And Starbucks frappucinos!!

Wow. This takes me back, Tammy. Did you have Mrs. Hayes at Ridgeway Elementary??? Because, until reading your post today, I was pretty sure no one had ever heard the words to the song that is tattooed on my brain unless they had. You forgot the last two (and my favorite) lines: "Slave to a coffee cup, they can't give coffee up."

Seriously, I cannot believe anyone else knows this song.
I have been so far out of the creative loop; it was nice to stop into your blog tonight.
