Entranced with Inks

18x24" strathmore drawing paper, various j. herbin inks
My daughter (11) and were spellbound by the interplay of inks and water. We used chopsticks, brushes, calligraphy pens and a straw to add ink, blow the ink around, etc. We made two 18x24" pages, one with rouge opera ink (pinky red) and the second with mostly eclat de saphir (cobalt blue) and a bunch of other colors.
You don't always need a reason.
The fun is just getting immersed in the process.
Our favorite thing is to do a wavy line or swirl with water and add a drop of ink with a calligraphy pen, the ink is pulled into the water.

These doodles are beautiful. And I love the camera angle. I may take a trip to the store to pick some up for myself. Thanks for sharing.
