Embroidered | Just Dream Mandala 2.0

"For me, the camera is a sketch book,
an instrument of intuition and spontaneity."
    ~Henri Cartier-Bresson

The Just Dream mandala is officially finished! This colorful bit of cotton embroidery began in January with a hand drawn mandala on the reverse in blue fabric pencil. It bloomed through small bursts of work through the first half of the year. You really can do magical things in the pockets of your days. You don't have to do everything all at once or even in the same month. Just make progress on something each day.

Having lots of projects running simultaneously lets me match the work to my mood, work space, concentration, time etc. I have a Happy, a huge watercolor doodle going, a bunch of B&W mandalas in the moleskine, Tekenfilm, an altered book that needs journaling, a new acrylic doodle like Dream Circus that just has a background, Boulevard, a doodle cityscape, watercolors etc. in the new Exacompta journal, and on the back burner, unstarted, an overflow of ideas that I probably should start writing down or I'll start forgetting!

I finished the curvy swirlies and added twinkly stars too. It's a keeper. In fact I like the back just as much as the front. That's so fiber geeky.

Learn about the origins of the Just Dream mandala in Part 1 + Part 2 + Part 3 + Part 4.

Just gorgeous! Joy embroidered. I have been in the practice of doing "just a little each day" for several years and I'm continually surprised by how powerful it is.

Might I just say . . . . "Wow!!!!" This IS a keeper, Tammy - a fabulous tribute to little bursts of time. I love the way you described it - "pockets of time". So perfect!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo

Colors and workmanship is spectacular. Totally love this.
Hanks of DMC bring back fond memories from when I was a kid and spent a lot of time in the summer doing embroidery.

This is my first comment on your blog after finding you recently. I just love this mandala. I also love your suggestions for those quick grabs of time when you think it isn't time enough to do anything creative. I have a lot of these pockets of time and look forward to spending them creatively now. Thank you
    Lee:)
