EDM #21: Draw something old, antique or vintage

You won't believe how long I have procrastinated. It's kind of ridiculous. EDM #20 was posted in September. That's a long time. Yet the idea of finding something old or vintage to draw was in the back of my mind. I wanted to find just the right thing, the perfect thing. I could have made the St. Marks Square drawing count for my "something old" but darn it, I drew it in another journal and I'd already written the headings for the next 20 or so EDMs in this moleskine.

5x8" moleskine, slicci pen, watercolor

So I forced myself to draw on a Friday morning at a cafe. The kids had a half day of school and it was a perfect opportunity to draw. So I got a blueberry scone, a banana and a 3-shot cappuccino and sat down to draw. I looked around and saw some frames on the wall and considered those perhaps retro... but settled on 2 red sparkly patent leather stainless steel stools sitting nearby. The legs were intertwined, or so it seemed. It doesn't take long to feel out of practice, unfortunately. It felt wonky. But I'm so happy I got over this hurdle.

Eek, I haven't done an EDM sketch in months either! Great stools--a perfect choice!

I've let drawing slip too! And I love the stools . . . they look like they were about to gallop off but got their legs tangled in their haste!

get back Wonky cat made me laugh out loud. (and now you can bet that song will be stuck in my head for the rest of the week). retro stools are some of my favorite things on earth - wonky or otherwise.

I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I gave up on the EDM drawing... drawing is just not my thing... I might pick it up someday in the future but for now I am OK with the fact that I spend the little time I have to be creative on something I actually love, and not on something that I 'don't like much but obligate myself to do...' I admire you for picking it up and the drawing looks really beautiful!
