EDM #18: Draw the view from a window of your house

5x8" moleskine, slicci pen, watercolor
For #18, I drew the view from the dining room window. In front of the window are rose bushes transplanted from our old house when we moved 8 years ago. We originally planted the roses in 1999 in honor of my mom. I've forgotten all of the names, but they include Mister Lincoln, Reine des Violettes and a climber called Queen Anne. There are only two blooms, both on Mister Lincoln. Bright red. One of the plants is full of graceful rose hips. When it is this hot (temps approaching 108) these roses fade. The knockout roses on the other side are still chugging along though. The bench is not really at this wonky an angle, but it is at an angle under the tree relative to the window. We're seeing just the right half of the bench, with some pieces of wood leaning on the arm because that's what you see from the window. Although once I drew the bench, I forgot that I'd only drawn half and then I painted flowers to the left. So it's really and truly all a mess. But I like it for the Alice in Wonderland wierdness. I'm working through Danny Gregory's Everyday Matters {EDM} drawing list. The idea is explained here, and all of the drawings are tagged EDM Challenge.

Tammy that drawing is absolutely lovely!
Wow!! This is wow! I love it. Love the askew-ness surrounded by flowers. And your pen lines are stunning. Seems secret gardenish. And I love the new eye wear too!! :)
Your drawings are really impressive and inspiring, Tammy!
I really like this drawing. It is very cool . I am sorry to see that you are still at such high temperatures. Finally we are having a cooler week. But trees and plats are clearly stressed, people too!
