Doodling The Time Away

doodle%20garden

We spend so much time waiting for kids - at sports classes, therapy, music, gymnastics. While you are packing up your kids taekwondo outfit or gymastics leotard, throw a sketch pad and a ziplock of pens and markers into the bag too.
Find a comfy spot and doodle. You can start small. Try 15 minutes. A few months ago I started taking markers and a drawing pad with me to the gym where my kids take classes. It started out small. Then expanded unexpectedly. Sometimes I sketch the outline one day and fill in the colors another day, so the pieces take a few days.
If you are shy about doing art in public, be assured that in 10 months of doodling in public, including starbucks and the gym and the bookstore, only one person has commented. That person was, surprisingly, a 10 year-old home-schooled gymnast who was curious to look at what I had drawn!

It's so great that you use this on-the-go time this way! And... what a fabulous doodle art sample here... your work amazes me.
