    Doodle Maniac

“Empty canvas. In appearance - really empty, silent, indifferent. Stunned, almost. In effect - full of tensions, with thousand subdued voices, heavy with expectations. A little frightened because it may be violated.”
    Wassily Kandinsky

I've been drawing on the pages of Dawn DeVries Sokol's new book {which is really a journal} Art Doodle Love. Doodling in gelly rolls, slicci pens and colored pencils. I keep this book in my car and it only came inside today to be photographed! I keep the 5x8" sketch moleskine in my purse along with several pens. Today I threw a zip-lok of colored pencils and a mini-sharpener in the car to use while I wait at carpool.

What do you carry with you each day to aid in your creativity?

I have a small collection of pens (watersoluble and permanent), pencils, charcoal, coloured pencils, and a water brush along with two journals in my bag (one journal is primarily for notes/ideas and quick sketches and another small journal for playing). Also able to be used for entertainment of children when necessary.

Also at the moment is a large tube of gesso, but that is because I have just bought it (admittedly a few days ago and I keep forgetting to take it out), but it won't be living in my bag for much longer.

Oh...and my phone, and more specifically the camera on my phone, how many times a day I whip that out to take a photo is insane sometimes.

I was JUST thinking today (before I read this post) that I should keep one of my journals in my car, for those times when I actually HAVE unexpected time. Thing is, I like to work on pages with all materials on hand... gotta learn to loosen up and just doodle here and there without feeling the necessity to bang out a completely designed, aesthetically pleasing mixed media masterpiece! Am I alone in this compulsion to create a finished piece with all the trimmings every time I put pen (or glue stick, or paint brush) to empty journal page?
