Creative Experiments #9: February

"I believe in evidence. I believe in observation, measurement, and reasoning, confirmed by independent observers. I'll believe anything, no matter how wild and ridiculous, if there is evidence for it. The wilder and more ridiculous something is, however, the firmer and more solid the evidence will have to be."
~ Isaac Asimov

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the January challenge. If you added more creativity to your life in January, consider it a successful endeavor. If you met your personal goal, yay you!!!

The February challenge begins today. Here's how it works!

  1. Each month, I will post a list of 12 Creative Experiments to consider
  2. Decide how many Experiments you want to do, this is your personal goal
  3. Work toward your personal goal
  4. During the month, post your progress in the comments of this post
  5. Go grab an ART=HAPPY badge and spread the word

The February Experiments
Daisy Yellow

For tracking purposes, each experiment is valued at one creativity point unless otherwise noted.

♣ Practice drawing letters or numbers (ideas at Line Practice)
♣ Watch an art tutorial on YouTube
♣ Create an art journal page using a prompt at Kick-Start Your Art Journal #6
♣ Send a handwritten note to someone to thank them for doing something
♣ Create art or write about a circle, the concept of a circle, or something circular
♣ Go for a leisurely walk with your camera, photographing whatever interests you
♣ Create a unique color wheel for one type of art material; watercolors, acrylics, embroidery floss, yarn, crayons, pencils OR pens - focus on shape and design of the wheel rather than the color order (ideas in ColourLovers' History of the Color Wheel)
♣ Develop a creative/ingenious way to solve a problem
♣ Do art|craft together with a child
♣ Experiment with a new material for your favorite art (i.e. if you knit - try a new type of yarn, if you draw - try square paper, if you paint - try transparent watercolors, if you draw - try charcoal or india ink)
♣ Write a poem or haiku
♣ Develop art around a list; ideas in How to Use Lists in Art Journals

[As a reminder, please do not copy/paste the experiments to your site, as excited as you are to do them, as they are copyright Daisy Yellow. Please link back to the list if you wish and of course post your experiments to share!]

Notes from the crowd...

♥ Canadian scientist-artist-mom Sophie blogged her experience with the January experiments at For Love + Idleness.
Superpooky of Glasgow documented her experiments at Trains, Pens + Planners.

Check out the entire series of creative experiments to earn creativity points based on your creativity!
