Creative Experiments 2011.rev.6

Welcome to a new set of creative experiments. The idea behind the experiments is to explore new creative things, which can be scary. So the experiments are designed to play off things you already know how to do; explore and learn without letting go of the familiar.

For tracking purposes, each experiment is valued at one creativity point unless otherwise noted.
♥ Triple Play. Create something using 3 mediums. For example, acrylic + ink + collage or watercolor + stamping ink + collage or photography + ink + acrylic.
♥ Library Card. Make a pretend library card circa 1960s.
♥ Every Picture Tells a Story Don't It. Document your day in 5 photographs. Each shot should tell a story of part of your day, without words. Examples: alarm clock, empty fridge, metro whizzing by, new blooms, dripping umbrella, computer screen, gessoed fingers, friend's smile, jury duty summons, magenta sunset...
♥ Familiar. Set the timer for 11 minutes. Write about/Sketch a place you go or used to go frequently: the train station, secret garden, the deli, your son's orthodontist, the chiropractor, a corner nook at the university library, framing store, grandmother's house, chemo treatment, beach house in north carolina, aunt's sewing room. Just write/draw about any aspect of this place, free form. Ideas: What colors remind you of this place? How did you feel when you were there? What happened, step-by-step? What were the scents? Was there music? Describe the place matter-of-factly. Draw a diagram of the place. Redesign the space. As you wish.
♥ Romeo, oh Romeo. Practice writing a sentence from a book in one of these fonts: VARSITY, Nauert, Leonardo, Champagne & Limousines, Rivanna.
So, kiddos, grab an ART=HAPPY badge, and get started on the experiments you choose.
