Creative Experiments 2011.rev.2
Tue, February 1, 2011 at 05:00PM
Welcome to the second set of creative experiments for 2011. The idea behind the experiments is to explore. But that can be scary! By playing off things you already know how to do, you can explore and learn without letting go of the familiar.
Read through the list, pick a few, and go. Report back when you finish the ones you picked, and I'll link to your post. We also have a fun little Flickr group to post the stuff you do in response to any of the prompts at Daisy Yellow. Flickr mail me or email me at tammy [dot] daisyyellow [at] gmail [dot] com if you want to join.

For tracking purposes, each experiment is valued at one creativity point unless otherwise noted.
♥ Private Castle. Congrats! You now own a grand yet dilapidated castle, ready for renovation. With $100 Million USD budget thanks to a governmental tax credit, you will renovate the castle. Write a page about what you will add and change about the castle. If you wish, draw a sketch diagram of the floor layout before and after.
♥ Retro Crafting. Do a craft that was in style in the 50s, 60s or 70s. Sew an apron? Crochet a toilet paper roll cover? Remember pipe cleaners? For ideas, check out Kitschy Crafts by Jo Packham and Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People
by Amy Sedaris.
♥ Board Sketch. Play a card or board game such as clue, apples to apples, crazy eights, apples to apples, scrabble, gin rummy, chess, bridge, scattergories, chinese checkers, boggle or monopoly. While you are playing, sketch the board. [on-line doesn't count]
♥ Lunch Bag. Create an art journal page which incorporates a brown paper lunch bag. Use as-is, tear into strips, cut into inchies, as you wish.
♥ Folding Quotes. Make an accordian book from a manilla folder and fill each "section" with quotes or lyrics from your fav songs. Idea + instructions in Accordian Book: Quotes.
So, kiddos, grab an ART=HAPPY badge, and get started on the experiments you choose. If you write about them, send me a link! Check out all of the creative experiments!

Yay! More inspiration! And since I actually managed a couple of these last month, I should collect them all into a blog post, soonish ;-)
Just to check, are we allowed to post our work on our own blog as well as share in the flickr group, etc.? I ask because you said not to copy/paste the experiment on our own site. Is that referring to your prompts or also the work we personally create ourselves?
I'd love to try some of these, but first I want to make sure that you are not keeping us from sharing just the work that we put so much work into on our blogs (with a link back explaining it was created in response to your "creative experiments" prompt).
Sam, Oh, do tell, let us know what you did in January!
Stretching My Imagination, Please, please, please do share your works with the world, and a few words to describe the prompt that you used... I added this request when folks started copying the entire list to their site! A link back would be lovely. If you leave the URL of the experiments I love to add your link to the post so others can see your interpretation.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to participating :-) Just finished trying a journal page with the brown paper lunch bag prompt!
Stretching My Imagination, I want to do the lunch bag prompt too!

Here is my interpretation for the folding quotes!
