Colored Glass

Imagine my delight at finding a little mosaic shop on the little island of Murano, Italy, a water taxi away from Venice. I'd seen little charms and paper weights made from glass at a bunch of stores and asked a store owner where I could find the little mosaic pieces and he looked at me with a bit of confusion and then directed me to this shop. It was a gem.

On the island of Murano, I found a little mosaic supply shop and could barely contain my enthusiasm. With the tessarae I brought home, I want to make little mosaics. We bought some italian glass tile cutters to help with the job.

A tiny shop with 4 walls like this! Heavy bags of tessera on the walls and bin after bin of glass.

This was the mosaic in the entry to the little shop, a rectangular frame of large pieces around a mat to wipe your feet.

I found inspiration on the wall of the shop.

They look like beautiful candy and jello! or is that the foodie in me coming out?? Either way they're stunning and I look forward to seeing what you do with them

Way Cool!!! Love all the bright colors. As a kid my mom did mosaics with us. Just regular colored tiles not fancy bright glass. It was great fun. I liked putting the grout in.
Have you checked out Kaffe Fassett's mosaics from broken china etc.. Everything he does is colorful, knit, needlework, quilts, mosaics. You can't miss with him. A great eye for color and design.
