Clouds of White

“There are moments in life, when the heart is so full of emotion that if by chance it be shaken, or into its depths like a pebble Drops some careless word, it overflows, and its secret, Spilled on the ground like water, can never be gathered together.”
― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

This is a small section of the 36 x 36" canvas in process. It's in one of those messy in-process phases and I don't know where it is going quite yet. It's all part of how I work. It evolves. Each day different colors and shapes are added. Each day the canvas changes.

Last night as I walked by, I noticed that the canvas was in need of white. With my fingers, I painted clouds of white and dripped yellow and then pink fluid acrylics into the white which quickly absorbed the vivid color. And then I saw white clouds and a rainbow for the children lost yesterday.

It is natural for us to turn to our art for peace and calm and balance. We mourn. We cannot breathe. But maybe we can paint. Maybe we can draw. Maybe we can sew. Maybe we can knit. Be mindful. Find some balance.
