    Choices

    "Be miserable. Or motivate yourself.
Whatever has to be done, it's always your choice."

    "Simply put, you believe
that things or people make you unhappy,
    but this is not accurate.
    You make yourself unhappy."

    ~Wayne Dyer

We iron our fitted sheets. ♥ We clean up after the church chili cook-off every year. ♥ We buy birthday gifts for 3rd cousins. ♥ We go to a coworker's daughter's bat mitzvah. ♥ Our kids take swimming + french + gymnastics + volleyball + ceramics + saxophone. ♥ We meet the girl that used to live in our apartment building for coffee. ♥ We take the kids to every single softball practice. ♥ We make 3 types of potato salad for the Independence Day picnic. ♥ We send 114 handmade holiday cards.

We are funny people. We want our linens to be smooth. We want our kids to be fluent in Russian. And Aunt Gracie loves our potato salad. The cumulative time and energy adds up.

What would you trade? To gain time to do art, plan a get-together, take your kids to a farmers' market, learn how to use your camera, have a cup of tea on the porch, play Chutes + Ladders, try a new recipe, walk your dog, prune your roses?

Love this post!! It's reallly all about CHOICES isn't it? I think when I realized this, that was the day I grew up :)
Now, I always have to make time for my "art". It's too precious to skip because it gives me a little spring
    to my step :D

Choices- perhaps the hardest thing we ever learn in growing up. The thing we are continuously faced with and challenged by.
What does this choice do for me?
Does this choice enhance/support my goals at this time?
I try but often forget to ask myself these questions- thanks for reminding me!!

That is such a great quote. As much as it can feel easier to disagree, it really is true. And it's so much better when we see life that way, and take it upon ourselves to find happiness.

Lovely post! Your words are beautiful too. We are funny people, indeed.

I am a Weight Watchers member. One of our inspirations is: "Choices have consequences." I think this is true in all aspects of life (not just with food).

    Hey Tammy,
It is wonderful to stop by.
I saw your banner in another individual's site, and I was drawn to taking a closer look.
Choices are all ours to make, indeed this is true, and we can as much choose happiness as we choose pain.
Our lifes are at stake, and they are also our creation.
    Beautiful quote and sentiments.
    Thank you for sharing.
I feel you are a truly blessed soul, with inspired energy running through you, here to light many.
    Much Love
