    Black Gesso & Stamps

"It's just a box of rain, I don't know who put it there.
Believe it if you need it or leave it if you dare."
~ The Grateful Dead, "Box of Rain"

More experimentation with black gesso as a base, in a book I've been altering. The first layer of black gesso was painted on thick with a brush. At a few spots, I peeled off the gesso to leave little sections of text peeking through. I think it was possible because the gesso was too thick! Next a layer of glossy Golden gel medium, stamped with aqua blue ink. Finished the page with alpha stamped lyrics from "Box of Rain."
