Art Journal: Eternal Beauty
Wed, November 7, 2012 at 05:54PM “We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.”
Paulo Coelho

Working on more pages in the altered book I call The Noticing Journal. A few months ago, I'd painted the blue backgrounds and added photos printed on the little Polaroid PoGo Printer. The purple roses on the left are from our garden; the mirror is from a palace in Munich. I usually build a page step by step, without a grand plan. Like I might think of doing a grid, but I don't decide what color. Then I look through my ephemera for sparks or clues. When I saw "Eternal Beauty" in an ad, I knew that was the theme of the page. The photos reminded me of things that are beautiful always, not based on what's in style at the current moment. I looked through my ephemera for things to represent that idea. The background blues, yellows + oranges were already there, so I built on those colors and the colors in the photographs with paint chips, washi tape, maps, fabric, etc.

This page has so much complexity. I find my eye moving around asking questions at every image. Well done!
This is wonderful! I really enjoy your pages that have a grid-like feel, filled with clippings and mementos.
Love the rawness of the paint with the beauty of your chosen images. I really like the colours too.
