Altered Catalog: Rev 21/30

Clothing catalogs are a great source for collage images. Even with a concerted effort to stop them, we still receive several each week. I like to combine pieces from different catalog images to make a "person" for the collage. Then I can fashion something interesting about her. This girl in red reminds me of a person going off to their ultra serious day job (in mortgage-backed securities no doubt), walking quickly up the subway station stairs oblivious to the life around her. Or she is an artist dressed incognito, like Superman, only to shed her preppy raincoat for a t-shirt splattered with acrylic paint, torn jeans and flip flops in the evening.

For these pages of the altered paper catalog, an array of magazine clippings edged with Neocolors is collaged on a base of stamped cardstock. There are some highlights drawn with silver sharpie paint marker and a quote printed on patterned cardstock edged with sparkly gellyrolls. The tones are fairly subdued and I love the deep reds.
