Altered Book: Wicked Black 1.2

Life is about creating yourself."

I'm getting messy with a background in the children's book I'm altering into an art journal. Click over to Wicked Black to see the first background layer which created the base layer of swirly textures.
I painted the edges of the pages with Golden fiber paste using a cheapo brush, let it dry a bit, then scraped on acrylic paint with a plastic card. How COOL is the texture of the first layer under the acrylics? Wow! I'm loving the depth of the swirls. This reminds me of old paint, or rust, or graffiti.
I planned to name these pages "Total Grunge" but realized it was already named "Wicked Black" and conveniently that works too. It's ready for an image or two and a quote (some day).
At My Peacetree, Ingrid shares positive words and lovely art. Sweet Nothings is a juxtaposition of pinks + grunge from her art journal. More pages in process from this journal at Flickr.
Check out the other pages in the tekenfilm altered children's book project.
