    Altered Book: Things I Collect

“People aren't either wicked or noble. They're like chef's salads, with good things and bad things chopped and mixed together in a vinaigrette of confusion and conflict.”
    ― Lemony Snicket

Things I Collect [OR HAVE LOTS OF]

Greenish pages from the noticing journal... an altered hardback turned journal; golden airbrush acrylics, neocolors, handmade stamps, gellyrolls, washi tape, pogo prints, hand painted papers, ephemera.

i don't collect very much, really

we don't have little collections all over the house gathering dust

my daughters collect little stones and snow globes

    what do you collect?

Oh yes, art supplies. Fabric, yarn and now paint. Books and tools and all the bits and bobs that I think MUST go with them. Lots and lots of paint. I'd have to add magazines, not because I mean to collect them, but because I never throw them out. What else? Legos and apparently volleyballs (I just cleaned out a closet). Photos would have to be the last. At least until I clean out another closet.

    {Tammy}: Volleyballs! Ha!

I was going to say art supplies, because I certainly have a lot of those, but I don't consider them a collection any more than I consider the food in my cabinets a collection. they are ingredients! but I do collect books and have such a hard time parting with them for any reason. and though I don't consider myself a rock collector, I have little piles of beach stones scattered throughout the house and can never resist bring home a few more in my pockets every time I go to the beach :)

{Tammy}: Agree with you that art supplies aren't a collection but rather ingredients (or perhaps resources); they take up a lot of space like the stuff in the pantry. We have a lot of tiny rocks and shells from our beach vacations; we live far from an ocean and they are so glorious.

I collect old crocheted doilies (they make good templates when layed on paper and sprayed); and scrapbook paper; and paper or digital journal boxes (can I say addicted!); and digital stuff for digital scrapbooking and art journaling (mostly freebies); layout and art journal inspirations of any kind (can I say 1/2 a terabyte (sp?)!). need I say more LOL!

{Tammy}: Deb, I think doilies are a lovely thing to collect! At least part of your collections are digital and thus don't take up much "physical" space.

Collections are fun. I have a great art doll collection. Some of it is mine, some made by my hubby. Then little ones given by friends or found at yard sales and resale shops. I have always loved dolls. Nowdays, though, the stranger the better.

    Hum . . . .
Fabric but yet it is a tool for me- a resource as you may.
Tea - but again it is also a consumable
    earrings
    notecards
    quotes
    journals
    Teacups
    Christmas Ornaments
    Snowmen
    Heart shaped rocks
Collections have always been a part of my life. I expect they always will be.
    Enjoy them all.

my greatest weakness is shells...it doesn't matter than i have jars and jars of them all over the house already. when i am at the beach, i can't help but bend down and pick up more. and though it's lovely to find a "perfect" shell, lately i've been most drawn to the large mollusk shells i've been finding all over our beach. crazy, but i see angels in them! there's a mixed media art project in there just waiting to come out, i believe. :-)

    what do I collect?!!

oh my gosh....what DON'T I collect would be a more appropriate question!!

    yikes....

I collect - shoes, pens - good quality (pay too much money for pens) , books, mirrors, art supplies (kind of goes without saying ;) ) wine, baroque swirls (on anything I can find), good quality watercolour brushes (I have one for each paint colour on my pallette), belts, belt buckles, purses, suitcases (I still haven't found the perfect one), leather jackets, iTunes music, DVD's (I think I own more movies and TV than I am capable of watching!!) -

I am going to stop here - the more I list the more I realize how much "stuff" I have....I need to do a purge.....

    have a great weekend Tammy!!

Heh. Pens. You can never have too many pens. :) I also collect turtles & dragonflies. During the Holiday's I collect nutcrackers & snow globes. Oh, yeah, I'm always adding to my collection of art supplies. :)
