Altered Book: Pink Love

“I've spent most of my life and most of my friendships holding my breath and hoping that when people get close enough they won't leave, and fearing that it's a matter of time before they figure me out and go.”
Shauna Niequist

I have this long-standing dreamy idea of making art journal pages created with abstract painted/inked papers I create, papers/ephemera I find {receipts, lottery tickets, ticket stubs, clothing tags}, postage stamps, photographs I take, plus basic essential art materials {matte medium for adhesive, acrylic paint, markers, neocolors). Maybe washi tape, alluring as it is.

This page started with the idea of using primarily PINK stuff, with a bit of other color to balance. I'm trying to use the golden rectangle, remember that? Leaving borders around the edges as a place for the eye to relax. White space is something I have to remember, or I will fill the page to the limits until it bursts and drips onto the next page.

Pages from the hardback I'm altering into an art journal called the noticing journal.

Starting August 1, you'll find a Daily Paper Prompt in the ICAD section of Daisy Yellow!

So I'm hosting a CARNIVAL, a party, a fiesta for pen, pencil + paper addicts... I mean afficionados. Learn more about the idea behind this carnival at Notebook Stories. To see what a carnival looks like, go and check out Comfortable Shoes Studio, the July hostess. You can submit an article for consideration at this link. {If you submit more than one article, it will make me very cranky. Please select carefully.} Select something relevant to the topic, something posted in the last 2 weeks. I'll be selecting only the very best of posts!

Loving these grids! I have always loved using bits and pieces of things to make a whole...kinda like a jigsaw puzzle, only you don't know the "picture" till you're done. Gorgeous stuff here.
