Index-Card-A-Day 2013 #1

Welcome, my friends, to Index-Card-a-Day 2013. I'm so happy that you are here with a stack of index cards ready to create anything and everything for the next 61 days.

3x5" index card divider, heavy body acrylics

A simple card for today. I have been practicing smoothing out the edges between blocks of acrylic paint so that they blend together... topped with some pops of white.

Your challenge: Do something creative with an index card. You'll find everything you need to know about the challenge in the ICAD FAQ and there's a handy dandy ICAD blog button for your blog.

For today, a special Mister Linky. Please add a link to your FIRST index card of the challenge! Add the URL to link to your blog post about your first index card or to the specific flickr photo for your first card of this year's challenge.  How fun is that? This is the first time I've used this type of linky, so let's see how this goes!

I have worked so very many hours on this little index card challenge and I ask that you respect the ownership of the work. PLEASE do not copy the weekly prompts or my index cards to your blog or pinterest.

I just found out about this today when I visited Darcy at Art and Sole. It's going to be fun getting to know you and joining in on this project.

Victoria is doing it this year, will be interesting to see how long she lasts. She has a little stash of her own cards and has being writing down ideas she can do!! :)

And so we are off! :)

Hi Tammy, I am new to you and so excited...and nervous- as more of a writer and a wanna be artist! I asked my 12 year old to take this challenge with me (she is homeschooled as of this year) and just found out about it today, actually! So...I am wondering if I could post once a week if we are able to do the challenge? If not we might just try but not post! We will check in for inspiration though! What a wonderful way to try some new mini art...said nervously! ;) Thanks!

LOL, I didn't know that May 31st was the 1st day of ICAD, but it wasn't a problem, because luckily I started on May 30 (in a way anyway!).
Anyway, this card is what i call a "note to myself". Last year, I started writing these little reminders so I could put them where I could see them throughout the day. This year, I have challenged myself to write a note to myself everyday in conjunction with ICAD. They won't always be on index cards, the size will depend on what i want to say to myself or how long the quote or saying I will use for that particular day, as well as the background I want to put it on.
Anyhoo, here is my first card!
A note about me and my situation this year. I had surgery on Janaury 17 to have my right wrist fused. I spent over 4 months in a long arm cast; am currently in a brace, just to have a break from being casted. I am being scheduled to have a second surgery to have a bone graft put in, since my wrist is not healing like it should be.
Because of this, I am unable to use my right hand (which is my dominant hand), so all of my work will be done with my left. Although I have become used to using it, there are times when I am a bit "shaky". In any case, it has added an interesting dimension to my art!
Sorry for the long comment, I tend to be a be a bit wordy at times. I'll try to control myself, I promise, lol!

Oops, somehow I added my picture twice. I wasn't sure if my upload had worked, so I did it a second time. Does anyone know how I can delete one of them?

Well, I'm #28, but I never did get my thumbnail to load. But if you click my name it will go to my flickr picture. Looking forward to this challenge...... first time to play in it!

Tammy, thank you so much for hosting this challenge! I'm so excited, this is my first year participating. I've invited my grands to make index card art with me once a week too! Look forward to seeing all the art.

I had thought about taking the ICAD challenge, but then I felt that I already had too much going on, so I wasn't going to add this. Then, I found myself pulling out an index card this morning and at that point I decided that I really wanted to do this, so here I go. I'm excited about this opportunity to make sure I create at least one thing every day for the next two months!

This is my first time on Icad and am excited to see everyone's work and get inspiration from your blog :)

Hi, long time reader and journaller! I've finally stirred myself to do the ICAD project and share it online.

To warm up I made 31 altered playing cards last month (visible on my flickr) and I'm excited to move to a bigger format. I have given myself an additional challenge that my index cards must include some kind of drawing, ideally a character or animal. I'm looking forward to this :)

First time doing this challenge & I'm so excited to have finished my first card *sigh* Many thanks Tammy for hosting this and to your fairy helpers for assisting you in the moderating :0) Mo
